With a few days left to the launch of the 2012-13 NBA season, the hype has already taken it’s toll on me as you can obviously see. My love for the game of basketball has not only transcended from sports and entertainment, but also an influencer in fashion and personal style. Like I mentioned in the last post, I’ve become extremely fond of the sportif / athletic wear jazz. The techo fabrics, relaxed silhouettes and its flat out comfortability adds youth and intrigue to any ensemble. Plus, what guy doesn’t like reppin their favorite team?
Being a little experimental with my favorite old school team - the Seattle Supersonics, I’ve explored this Shawn Kemp throwback with plausible combinations in my closet and without a doubt my personal favorite right now would be rocking it with a tailored outfit (a patterned one at that). Although, it may seem like an unlikely pair, the contrast in style and fabrics highlights each other that exudes a refined athletic appeal that makes a bold statement.
This Seattle Supersonic jersey has been with me since I was little kid. Being born in Seattle, Washington, my loyalty stems with the team and all of it’s players, especially Shawn Kemp (who’s jersey I’m wearing) and Gary Payton. Even though the team no longer exists, I will never throw back this throwback!
We’ve seen most patterned suits in checks and plaids, but this one caught my eye because of it’s novelty small/large scale flower motif. I purchased it this passed spring at Joe Fresh, yet it’s still a viable piece for pre-fall weather.
A few great standout patterned suits for FALL 2012.
Simon Spurr, Moschino, Comme Des Garcons
Astrid Anderson interpreted the basketball jersey in unique ways as well for spring 2013, mixing both athletic and plush fabrics and using elongated silhouette’s. They even transformed a photo of Kobe Bryant onto a graphic on the jersey on the far left.
More great standout patterned suits from Spring 2013.
