Now that the New York Yankee’s have been sadly swept out of the ACLS last Thursday, there’s pretty much no reason for me to watch baseball anymore. I guess it was all down hill after Jeter went down and we all knew that the season was over when we found out he was never coming back. But on the brighter side, there was one particular comeback this season that the future looked definitively bright on. You guessed it, the baseball jersey! I’ve been on a sportif/athletic-leisure type of feel as of late, a thing that spurred from this pass spring that’s carrying over to my pre-fall digs. Anything that references back to sports has been my latest itch, from basketball throwbacks, to baseball jackets and jersey’s that play as great additions to my pre-fall wardrobe line up.
Another great style reference from the big leagues is the baseball jacket. It’s a great layering piece and it’s a reliable reliever for the collegiate jacket this fall. This one in particular is from Chateau Roux, the mesh sleeves are a cool detail that gives this already sleek looking jacket added contrast. Purchased at ASOS.com.
What’s dope about baseball jersey’s is that it’s affordable and easy to get at any local thrift store - this one was only $5!!! Sweet huh!
Shoes - Forfex x Opening Ceremony
This is the summer version of the baseball jersey look paired with aloha print shorts by Reyn Spooner x Opening Ceremony. Shot was taken at NYFW by Wallsee for the Fashion Week SS13 Street Style Challenge.
Here are a few baseball inspired looks off the runway for spring 2013:
Issey Miyake, Hermes
SIR New York had an amazing collection for SS13, I previously was introduced to the edgy/athletic brand at Project and I’ve been a fan ever since. Although, the designers above have all great renditions of the baseball look, I think SIR New York did it the best. I’d copped the whole collection if I could and I’m pretty excited about their fall collection that’s inspired by jockeys and hockey. Look out for that one!
